This is a continuation of our series of articles from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons’ Full Guideline for the Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis.

Recommendation 7 – Patients with symptomatic knee OA should use patellar taping for short term pain relief and functional improvement. ┬áTaping the knee cap towards the inside of the leg (medially directed) makes knees with OA feel better when they move.

Taping the knee cap is a conservative and inexpensive treatment option for knee osteoarthritis.
