Vegetarians and OA

AVOCA ASU – a new product from Nutramax is designed for those allergic to shellfish or vegetarians looking for pain relief from non-animal origins.  The joint health supplement is made from non-shellfish glucosamine, avocados, soybeans, and decaffeinated green tea.

NMX1000 (non-shellfish glucosamine) Avocado/soybean unsaponifiable (ASU) and OptiMSM are the primary ingredients.  The decaffeinated green tea is added for its antioxidant health benefits.

The glucosamine in AVOCA ASU is intended to be a building block for cartilage, keeping cartilage cells healthy and functioning properly.  Studies using cartilage cells have shown that avocado / soybean unsaponifiables “lowers the expression of several compounds involved in the process of cartilage breakdown in the joints”.

ASU in conjunction with glucosamine produce a synergistic effect to provide pain relief for those suffering with knee osteoarthritis.
